ACData Solutions Meets UL 1449 2nd Edition February 2007 Listing Requirements

Is your surge protection manufacturer sacrificing performance?

There are several methods manufacturers have used to pass the new UL requirements. Some have chosen to utilize in-line current fusing which limits the surge withstand of the protector to far below its rated capacity. ACData engineers refused to let these new requirements effect the actual tested surge capacity of the protector and invented a new patent-pending anti-arcing technology to achieve this goal.

Changes at a Glance:

On February 9, 2007, all surge protection devices were required to meet stringent new safety requirements in order to be UL Listed to 1449 2nd Edition February 2007. The new UL Listing requires surge suppressors to undergo strenuous testing to ensure they will not create fire or shock hazards when exposed to prolonged AC overvoltage conditions.

The ACData Solution:

To meet the new UL Listing requirement, Engineers at ACData Solutions Ryan Labs™ developed a new patent-pending anti-arcing system with existing thermal and current fusing mechanisms. The new technology ensures that our entire AC product line will exceed the new UL 2007 safety requirements and will continue to exceed maximum surge current capabilities without degradation, failure or required maintenance.
